The second stage develops a purely mental control over the vitality of the body and spirit. Both phases also feature the cultivation and nurturing of energetic life force.

Shamanic meditation is another common form of energy cultivation. Spirit guides, totem animals, and nature spirits assist a shaman in transforming their spiritual and vital energy.
